The award is presented by the White Guide in cooperation with Visita – the Swedish hospitality industry and employers’ organization. It is given to someone who for many years has been developing a clear line in their gastronomy and in doing so has contributed to enriching the food culture in Sweden.
Stefano has developed one of the most important culinary institutions in the country. He has with respect, creativity and challenge managed the inheritance from the founder of Swedish gastronomy, Tore Wretman, and his successor, Werner Vögeli.
Since 1996 Stefano has been Executive Chef at the Operakällaren, the classic and up market restaurant in Stockholm’s Royal Opera House. He is also responsible for the catering at banquets and dinners held at the Royal Castle.
He has introduced his own version of Le Grande Cuisine by adding a personal and modern touch to fine dining. Like many chefs today he has also written cookbooks and presented TV shows.
Stefano is head of the jury for the Bailliage of Sweden’s National Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs Competition.
